From the recording Pepper's Ghost
This phrase refers to βan unexpected power or event saving a seemingly hopeless situation, especially as a contrived plot device in a play or novel.β In the aforementioned Wizard of Oz story, an example of this is when Dorothy accidentally splashes the Wicked Witch with water, causing her to melt, solving the main conflict without any action from the protagonist. In our world, I am praying for some sort of miracle to rescue us from the seemingly hopeless situation we currently find ourselves in. Never give up hope!
